The Halal Center of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta is a university-based center of studies dedicated to the development of halal studies in accordance with the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, encompassing education, research, and community engagement.
In the field of education, the Halal Center has contributed to the integration of halal studies into the academic curriculum, providing academic input for several courses within the Faculty of Science and Technology as well as postgraduate programs at UIN Sunan Kalijaga.
In terms of research, the Halal Center actively participates in national and international scholarly activities. It has served as a presenter at international halal conferences in Malaysia and Thailand, received an international research grant in Japan focusing on global halal standards, and continuously conducts research and publishes findings in reputable national and international academic journals.
With regard to community engagement, the Halal Center has played a significant role in providing halal certification assistance under both self-declare and regular schemes since 2021, covering 34 provinces across Indonesia. In addition, the Halal Center consistently delivers halal awareness programs, socialization, and educational outreach to the general public, business actors, and related institutions, particularly those concerned with MSMEs, business legality, and food safety.
As a closing commitment, the Halal Center UIN Sunan Kalijaga remains firmly dedicated to supporting the mandatory halal policy as mandated by Law Number 33 of 2014 on Halal Product Assurance, and to delivering the highest standard of service to all stakeholders in matters related to halal product assurance.
