Technical Guidance on Food Safety and Halal Products
The Halal Center of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta had the opportunity to serve as a resource person in the Technical Guidance (Bimtek) on Food Safety and Halal Products for Micro Business Actors in Sleman Regency, D.I. Yogyakarta, which was organized by the Sleman Regency Office of Industry and Trade.
Diky Faqih Maulana, Secretary of the Halal Center UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, presented on the transition of authority for Halal product assurance organization from LPPOM MUI to BPJPH. Furthermore, he explained the existence of both Regular and Self-Declare schemes, detailing both the technical and substantive procedures.
The event, held at Taman Pringsewu Restaurant, also invited another speaker from the Sleman Regency Health Office to ensure synchronization of the Bimtek output and the subsequent assistance process for business actors.
Following this technical guidance, the expectation is that the participants, as MSME actors, will become more aware of the importance of product legality before distribution. This is especially crucial given the growing global spotlight on the Halal industry ecosystem in Indonesia, which aims to ensure local products are not displaced by imports and can successfully scale up.
