Halal Center UIN Sunan Kalijaga Strengthens Halal Literacy in Southeast Sulawesi

The Halal Center UIN Sunan Kalijaga, through its Halal Product Process Assistance Institute (LP3H), once again expanded its Halal education network in the eastern region of Indonesia. OnOctober 20–21, 2025, LP3H was present in Baubau City for a Halal Socialization and Education activity organized by IAIN Kendari.

The activity was attended by more than fifty participants consisting of students, lecturers, MSME actors, related government agencies, and Halal facilitators in Southeast Sulawesi. The focus of the activity was to enhance understanding regarding Halal Product Assurance (JPH) and simultaneously encourage the acceleration of Halal certification, especially for micro and small business (UMK) actors.

IAIN Kendari invitedDr. Diky Faqih Maulana, M.H., Head of LP3H UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, as the main resource person. In his presentation, Dr. Diky emphasized that Halal standards have now become a global necessity in the food and lifestyle industries.

"Baubau has very strong culinary and MSME potential. By ensuring Halal certification, we not only protect Muslim consumers but also increase the quality and competitiveness of local products in the international market," he said.

Through a practical session, participants received technical assistance on the procedures for registering for Halal certification via SiHalal and understanding the Halal process chain according to the regulations set by the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH). The enthusiasm of the participants was very high, evident from the large number of local products ready to apply for certification.

The representative from IAIN Kendari expressed appreciation for LP3H's support in enhancing Halal literacy in the island region. They hope this academic collaboration will be sustained, not only through socialization but also through MSME coaching, Halal research, and the empowerment of prospective Halal facilitators.

With the successful execution of this activity, the Halal Center UIN Sunan Kalijaga reaffirms its commitment as a center for Halal scholarship that actively strengthens the Halal ecosystem in various regions across Indonesia.
